About Held. | The Story Behind Our Comfort Gifts

The Founding Story of Held.

There are people who quietly carry so much.

The mother who puts everyone before herself.

The healthcare worker who spends her days caring for others while silently carrying her own exhaustion.

The friend who keeps showing up despite feeling overwhelmed.

The person who continues to give, even when they themselves need comfort.

For many years, I was one of those people.

As a nurse, wife, and mother of four, my life has always been rooted in caring for others. I have witnessed beautiful beginnings, difficult goodbyes, moments of joy, grief, burnout, and silent struggles that often go unseen.

And through these experiences, I realized something profound:

The people who care for everyone else are often the ones who are least cared for.

I began longing for something simple.

A pause.

A gentle reminder that someone sees you.

A small moment that says:

“You do not have to carry everything alone.”

I wanted to create something that could hold that feeling.

Not just a gift box.

Not just a candle.

But an experience.

Something that allows a person to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel comforted.

Something that makes them feel seen.

Something that makes them feel held.

That is why Held. was born.

Every ribbon tied, every candle poured, every message written inside our boxes is created with intention.

Because when someone receives a Held. box, I want them to feel my presence.

I want them to feel that someone thought about them.

I want them to open the lid and exhale.

To feel warmth.

To feel gentleness.

To feel that, even for a moment, they no longer have to carry everything on their own.

I want them to feel what the name itself means.

Held.

Held in comfort.

Held in kindness.

Held in understanding.

Held in love.

Because comfort should not be earned.

It should be offered.

And everyone deserves to feel held.

Held. was created to become the gentle pause I wished existed for the people who quietly carry so much—a reminder that even the strongest hearts deserve comfort, care, and moments of softness. My deepest hope is that every person who opens a Held. box feels seen, comforted, and gently held. 🤍
